I found an interesting overview of angry songs about the late Margaret Thatcher on www.buzzfeed.com. I would like to share this collection with you, not because I want to be disrespectful of the dead but because I want to show how contested this powerful British politician was and how this was reflected in music. It seems to me that her followers are using her memory to justify her socially destructive policies without allowing criticism. This is not better are respectful to death than celebrating the death of someone. People defending Thatcher's policies on the one side and people celebrating her death on the other side, shows how the country was torn appart during her government.
The Collection was published on October 11, 2012, half a year before Thatcher's death:
"The former prime minister inspired bitter tunes by Elvis Costello,
Morrissey, Pink Floyd, and many others. Update: She died April 8, 2013,
at age 87 — though her death was celebrated by musicians years ago."
