Bienvenue à 1984 - Willkommen im (Orwellschen) Jahr 1984

In these times of ever growing surveillance, repression and militarism along with the emergence of a Police State in a growing number of countries I think regularly of George Orwell's great, "prophetic", dystopian novel "1984" that he published after WWII. If you are interested in this book, that deals with totalitarianism and the growing influence of the State on individuals symbolised by the "Thought Police", or in his other writings, you can read them on www.george-orwell.org. The music in the following video is the song "Welcome to 1984" by the US punk band Anti-Flag. The clip deals mainly with militarism, war and the problems of Democracy and the role of the neocons in the USA but you can apply the content on other war like governments and groups. TANKMAN rulez!

Feels like Nazi Germany, and Hitler on TV,
As the unpresident spews his homophobic speech
Didn't the Allies fought a war to end extremist fascist law
So tell me NOW what the fuck are we fighting for?
